WHAT REALLY HAPPENS TO RACE HORSES WHEN THEIR CAREERS ARE OVER?
Race horses inspire awe and admiration for their magnificent athleticism, grace and strength. They are cherished for the powerful bonds they form with people. Yet, when their racing days end, some of these beautiful animals slip through the cracks enroute to a cruel fate.
In his debut novel Heliacal Star (July 29, 2024)thoroughbred owner and racing partnership leader Victor Bahna brings this little-talked-about fate to light.
We will look at what Victor loves about racing - what he doesn't - and how he is using his storytelling to CHANGE it.
Overall, with horse sport under attack, I think that it is important to give people the THRILL of what it is like to unite with 1200 pounds of galloping thoroughbred to fulfill their genetic destiny - TO OUTRUN THE WIND!
These horses LOVE to compete - sentient beings who are honed by nature, man, and God, to want to RUN, to revel in their bodies. The ultimate jocks! Victor will share stories about some of his favourite horses that reveal this.
